in which the sea throws the children high up into the air

Backwash from Isabella on Vimeo.

On the hottest day of the year, the waves were hitting the cliff and rebounding back out to sea. It's called backwash:
The children like to play in it, and it seems
the sea likes it too.

Looks fun! Exilerating and SCARY! As you say, it looks like the sea is having fun. Of course wrestling with a tiger might also look like fun!

pretty fun, and great to watch,
but it was filmed by isabella's friend *ahem* named adam...

I wish I was there instead of sitting at my desk at work
(shark siren notwithstanding...)

That's a lovely video, except I find those incoming waves and reflected waves a little -- maybe a lot -- dangerous for most folks to be swimming or surfing in. Furthermore, the nearby cliff makes it an especially dangerous place to surf, at least to my untrained eye. Throw in that shark warning at the end, and, well, gee, that's some place to be in the ocean with or without a surf board!

You might as well enjoy it - when nature puts on a show like that, it's hard to refuse :)

Did you see that 'The Smack' won a major prize?
I was reading the paper and the title jumped out at me.

How cool! We also have wild waves but the water is so cold that only brave adults in full wetsuit venture out.

How wonderful to sit here in my safe space and enjoy the adrenalin of this surf spectacular.
