in which the fish goes on a brief sojourn

So one day the fish gets up in the morning and looks at the splendid day it is at her beach.
She gets into her car and drives southwards for quite some time.

Until she reaches somewhere else.

A rather peaceful somewhere else.

A familiar somewhere else, quiet and still.

with some familiar comforts.

Here the fish finds herself on a long long beach, where she walks for quite some time, her fish-head filled with delightful thoughts, of her current lovely obsessions.

As it happens, this is a very happy beach. An excellent place for a happy fish to be.

It is luminous and empty....

But wait, what is this?

The entire population of her beach back home, and all their dubious habits...

are having boat races by the island.

The fish declines, on this occasion, to take an oar.
Oars are very heavy and capricious things, and the fish very dreamy headed.
But the fish forgives all the bad behaviors, because on Sunday morning
someone gets up early and shells five kilos of fresh prawns
So she eats avocado and prawns on toast.
For which she will forgive anyone the sight of their bottom.

 In the small town nearby,
the girls descend en masse for coffee.
Which is a very good thing after all that exertion.

So different from my high altitude home next to the mountains! The views or your area are a breath of fresh air from all the winter debris still hanging around here. Thanks for the vicarious toes in the sand.

Fifi --

OK, I know I should know this, but I've been remiss in reading your -- or any -- entries lately ... Where are you on vacation? Or are those just pictures from around your part of the world? I have no frame of reference for anything in Australia.

Oh, yes, that guy's bathing suit looks ... well ... quite uncomfortable to say the least. I think that garment meets the informal definition of what is sometimes called "butt floss", though usually it references a female string bikini.

I hope I'm not insulting a friend or relation of yours. My apologies if so.

Regarding your comment in my entry, I neglected to mention it was a phone interview, so I was home. I updated the entry to reflect that. Thank you for catching that.

How lovely and relaxing and how nice to be in a happy dreamy state. You know I was busy looking at the girl with the oars and completely missed the 'bottom'. I love the smiley, happy beach. Was that made or a lovely little chance of nature?

I missed the bottom as well, after reading comments I had to go back again!

I have to say, prawns and avocadoes for breakfast sounds most decadent!

I did not miss the bottom. Is it a common practice there for that sort of suit? Boy Not here!

The happy beach looks wonderful, It makes me yern to put my toes in the sand and water!

I felt so wistful when I saw your first photo. I wanted to scrawl "RB woz ere" all over it.

Prawns and avocado - bliss.

I miss you!!!

Hope the fish had a lovely sojourn, and got to have a swim when there were no large dangerous oars flailing about.

Are the tog-less butt cheeks supposed to bean anti-friction strategy for rowing, I wonder? Why else......

oops...

bean = "be an"

The cossie-up-the-arse trick is supposedly to allow the rower to slide efficiently when rowing, but I'm not convinced...in such a homophobic and misogynistic institution as Surf life Saving Australia, it never fails to amaze me that they do it so happily....

I just happened upon that smiley face on the sandhills, someone had made it with kelp.

It looks like the ideal place to buy a little shack on a bush-beach block, and raise some kids, maybe also some chickens and goats, go surfing, swim, relax, read, draw, paint, knit, grow veggies go barefoot, and generally chill out. I don't suppose property prices there come cheap? ... Sigh...
